Built during the early months of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, Encompass Health’s Rehabilitation Hospital of Toledo utilized 56,000 square feet of phenolic ductwork. The smooth aluminum interior surface of this ductwork provided the hospital with an R-6 insulated system, free of loose fibers that could potentially enter the airstream.

Pre-planning the Encompass project was critical, and phenolic ductwork's reduced space requirements played a key role during construction. In many areas where traditional insulated duct posed challenges, phenolic ductwork's pre-insulated nature offered superior thermal performance throughout the entire system. The minimal thickness for the phenolic system minimized duct space usage, creating more room for other trades to work efficiently within the building.
